JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Radiation Science and Engineering Center (RSEC) within the College of Engineering currently has an opening for a Part-Time Electronics Technician. This position reports to the senior facility electronics engineer and is principally responsible for assembly calibration troubleshooting and repair of electronics and computer equipment used to measure monitor or support reactor operations research and/or instruction. Along with these duties the candidate will order organize and store spare parts as necessary to maintain reactor and other laboratory equipment. This position works under the supervision of staff engineers to install and maintain experimental equipment reactor console electronics radiation detectors electronic dosimeters and other electronic equipment. The position will comply with and perform work within established facility procedures regulatory requirements and University policies.
Minimum requirements for this position include formal training on electronic equipment and troubleshooting. Past hands-on experience with electronics calibration and repair is strongly preferred. The selected candidate must pass a federal background investigation and radiation worker qualification administered by PSU Environmental Health and Safety. This position is normally assigned to day shift but occasional weekend and evening work may be required. The facility is a regulated drug-free workplace and applicants must pass drug screening and are subject to random and for-cause testing. Vehicles and personal property may be subject to random search upon entering and exiting the facility.
The selected candidate will be expected to work up to 24 hours per week.
The starting rate for this job is $20 - $25 /hour depending on qualifications and level of experience.
