Job Summary

Position Overview

Merrimack College invites applications for a 9-month non-tenure track full-time open rank professor-of-practice position beginning Fall 2026.


Merrimack College invites applications from individuals with the ability to teach a broad range of undergraduate courses in religious and theological studies and in the First Year Seminar program. Priority will be given to candidates with experience in holistic student formation or young adult ministry and academic expertise in one or more of the following areas: practical theology patristics biblical studies or ethics.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in religious and theological studies required for all undergraduate students as part of the Foundations and ConnectionsCore Curriculum.

  • Teach courses offered as part of theAustin Scholars Program.

  • Teach in Merrimacks First Year Seminar programFYS1947: Who Am I

  • Provide mentorship for students earning certificates minors and majors (BA) in Religious & Theological Studies.


Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in related field (Ph.D. Th.D. S.T.D. )

  • 2-years minimum experience in higher education

  • Demonstrated success in undergraduate teaching

  • Knowledge of the life teachings and legacy of St. Augustine of Hippo

  • A teaching statement including a teaching philosophy and methods of supporting undergraduate students in the 21st century higher education and cultural landscapes.

  • A service statement that shares examples of working collegially as part of a teaching team and that indicates experience supporting the operations of a school or program.

Work Location

This is an on-campus position as employees are essential in order to provide a fully on-campus residential college experience for our students and the community.


Compensation

The expected 9-month base salary range (paid over 12 months) for the Lecturer is $ Assistant Professor of Practice position is $74000-$90000; for the Associate Professor of Practice is $90000-$110000. The actual pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as but not limited to candidate qualifications and prior experience scope of responsibilities internal equity and market considerations.
