Job Summary

The STEM Youth Development Professional is responsible for planning and delivering engaging hands-on STEM programming that inspires curiosity supports academic enrichment and helps youth develop critical thinking skills. This role ensures high-quality program implementation while maintaining a safe positive and developmentally appropriate environment. The position directly supports Boys & Girls Clubs priority outcome areas of Academic Success Healthy Lifestyles and Good Character & Citizenship through inquiry-based learning and mentorship.

Job Functions

Prepare Youth for Success

Create an inclusive learning environment that encourages exploration and positive youth outcomes.

Promote active participation in STEM programs and provide mentorship and role modeling.

Program Development & Implementation

Plan and facilitate high-quality STEM programs aligned with Club goals.

Incorporate inquiry-driven and project-based learning activities.

Monitor program engagement safety and effectiveness; maintain documentation.

Introduce youth to STEM careers through field trips speakers and hands-on projects.

Supervision & Collaboration

Participate in weekly staff meetings.

Collaborate with staff to integrate STEM with academic health and leadership programs.

Additional Responsibilities

Assist with STEM events and showcases.

Support partnerships with schools universities and community organizations.

Participate in training and professional development.

Maintain a safe clean and organized program environment.

Adhere to organizational policies and represent the Club positively.

Relationships

Internal: Daily contact with Club Director staff volunteers and members.

*May include occasional evenings or weekends for events.

Requirements

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required; STEM coursework preferred.

Experience leading youth in group or classroom settings.

Knowledge of STEM concepts and hands-on facilitation.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Familiarity with robotics coding or maker-space tools preferred.

Valid State Drivers License required.

Abilities

Ability to motivate and supervise youth.

Strong problem-solving and instructional skills.

Ability to collaborate with staff and partners.

Ability to maintain accurate program records.

Environmental and Working Conditions

Community-based environment with frequent youth and partner interaction. Some travel required. Physical tasks include standing walking bending and lifting up to 20 lbs.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Ability to supervise active STEM projects focus in dynamic environments and manage multiple tasks.

Additional Compliance Requirements

Annual background checks required.

Must be authorized to work in the United States.
