We are looking to hire a Principal Onshore Pipelines Engineer to apply their skills on challenging and diverse pipeline projects at our Calgary Alberta location. Your expertise will be crucial in determining methods and solutions for complex pipeline engineering challenges ensuring the most effective efficient and economical approaches are employed to meet objectives.

The Principal Onshore Pipelines Engineer will be expected to lead engineering design scope for large diameter mainline pipeline design and construction projects lead teams in engineering design and have a strong technical knowledge background in onshore pipeline engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the overall leadership integration coordination and execution of engineering scope on projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.

  • Develop the scope of work for the engineering scope of a project including the project schedule budget and an execution plan that is required for the successful execution of a project.

  • Technical coordination of the engineering disciplines especially those unique pipeline specialty services including routing regulatory stress and materials.

  • Identification and management of project trends and changes.

  • Developing and maintaining client relationships.

  • Contribute to cost estimates for large diameter mainline pipeline projects.

  • Manage and lead pipeline engineering activities on a project.

  • Provide overall technical guidance to engineering and project teams.

  • Develop proposals for new pipeline projects.

  • Assist in planning and implementing safety loss control and environmental programs.

  • Quality Assurance responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the relevant Quality Assurance system.

  • Safety Responsible for personal safety and safe work practices in accordance with Health Safety and Environmental procedures.

Technical and Industry Experience:

  • Experienced pipeline engineer with strong interpersonal and communication skills to ensure smooth coordination between company management customers and various disciplines assisting on the project.

  • Strong background in pipeline stress work solid understanding of soil to pipe interaction and experience with stress modelling software such as AutoPipe and ABAQUS.

  • Base background in pipeline hydraulics and geotechnical considerations for major pipelines.

  • Arctic pipeline experience and expertise.

  • Solid understanding of the pipeline business project engineering and execution fundamentals.

  • Exceptional leadership and organizational skills.

  • Successful completion of a bachelors degree in a Civil Mechanical Chemical or Petroleum Engineering program (or masters degree in Pipeline Engineering).

  • Eligibility or registration as an Engineer in a Western Canadian engineering regulatory body (APEGA EGBC etc).

  • Deep working knowledge of CSA Z662.

  • Preference for work experience in Canadian EPC engineering environment or with a pipeline owner/operator.

  • Strong consideration will be given to candidates with cross-country large-diameter mainline pipeline design and project execution background.
