Business Development Representative (BDR)

Work Hours: U.S. business hours (aligned with 10:00 AM1:00 PM PT; late-night shift for South Africa)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Business Development Representative (BDR) to support a commercial insurance agency by owning outbound lead generation and appointment setting. The primary focus of this role is cold calling restaurants to book initial sales appointments.
This is a highly focused role where success is measured by appointments booked not total call volume. The BDR will work independently to research prospects build call lists and consistently generate qualified meetings for the sales team.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct outbound cold calls to restaurant businesses
Own the full lead generation process including researching and building call lists
Book qualified appointments for the sales team
Focus exclusively on appointment setting (no closing responsibilities)
Work independently with minimal supervision
Maintain consistent outbound activity aligned with performance benchmarks
Performance Expectations
Average approximately 180 outbound calls per day
Target 25 booked meetings per day
Success measured by number of appointments booked not call volume alone
Qualifications
Prior experience in cold calling outbound sales or appointment setting
Strong spoken English with clear communication skills (non-negotiable)
Comfortable conducting high-volume outbound calls daily
Ability to independently research prospects and build call lists
Self-motivated and able to work without close supervision
Comfortable working late-night hours to align with U.S. business hours
Reliable internet connection and home office setup suitable for calling
