Take full responsibility for the school in the absence of the Head Teacher
Carry out the professional duties of a teacher as required
Undertake role of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) for the school
Take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school
Carry out the duties of this post in line with the remit outlined in the current School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document including the conditions of employment for Deputy Head Teachers and the schools own policy

Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic impact-driven leadership and direction within Pencalenick School.
Support in transforming leadership at all levels.
Support the day-to-day management of Pencalenick School.
Ensure the delivery of high-quality education through a curriculum that has clear intent and impact.
Lead the quality of teaching and learning to meet the needs of every student and enable them to achieve their full potential.
Raise standards across Pencalenick School and secure excellent student outcomes and progress.
Be a high-profile presence during the school day and at school events.
Take responsibility for a significant area within Pencalenick School including management of designated staff.
Assist Head Teacher in formulating the School Improvement Plan self-evaluation and review.
Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people across Pencalenick School.
Monitor progress toward meeting school aims and objectives.
Deputise for the Head Teacher when required.
Fulfil professional responsibilities in line with the School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document (STPCD).

Teaching Curriculum and Assessment Responsibilities
Establish and sustain high-quality teaching across all subjects and phases based on evidence.
Strategically lead the Higher Prior Attaining acceleration strategy.
Ensure teaching is underpinned by subject expertise.
Promote inclusive practices to enable all students including those with SEND to access the curriculum.
Maintain ambitious expectations for all students.
Use formative assessment to inform strategy and decisions.
Ensure the teaching of a broad structured and coherent curriculum.
Use valid reliable and proportionate assessment of students knowledge and understanding.
Model outstanding teaching in line with the Teacher Standards.
Use school-wide data and tracking to inform improvement planning.

School Culture and Behaviour
Make high expectations clear to pupils parents staff and the wider community.
Support Head Teacher in communicating the Pencalenick School vision and values.
Uphold the ethos and educational standards of Pencalenick School.
Ensure high staff professionalism and high expectations for student behaviour and progress.
Implement fair and consistent approaches to behaviour in line with Trust policy.

Governance Accountability and Working in Partnership
Ensure schools operate within regulatory frameworks and meet statutory duties.
Present clear and accurate accounts of performance to Governors Governing Body Ofsted and others.
Collaborate with colleagues to improve educational outcomes.
Foster partnerships with parents and the wider community.

General Responsibilities Applicable to All Staff
Demonstrate and promote the values of Pencalenick School at all times.
Collaborate with staff to meet the needs of all pupils.
Uphold professional conduct in line with Pencalenick Schools Code of Conduct.
Attend staff meetings and INSET as required.
Undertake appropriate professional development.
Adhere to all Trust policies and procedures.
Maintain confidentiality in all matters in line with GDPR.
