Job Summary
The Health & Fitness Youth Development Professional is responsible for planning coordinating and delivering high-quality health fitness and recreation programs that promote active lifestyles teamwork physical literacy and overall wellness. This role supports Boys & Girls Clubs priority outcome areas of Academic Success Healthy Lifestyles and Good Character & Citizenship.
Job Functions
Program Development and Implementation
Plan and deliver fitness sports wellness and recreational activities.
Teach proper equipment use safety guidelines and activity expectations.
Develop and post weekly or monthly activity schedules.
Monitor and evaluate program safety engagement and quality.
Recognize youth for participation and achievements.
Maintain clean and safe program areas and equipment.
Youth Development
Create a safe supportive and inclusive environment using trauma-informed practices.
Provide active supervision and positive role modeling.
Promote teamwork healthy habits discipline and respect.
Guide youth through positive behavioral choices.
Daily Program Activities
Prepare activity spaces and equipment daily.
Communicate program agendas and safety rules.
Facilitate structured sessions aligned with BGCA Core Program Pillars.
Uphold safety procedures and emergency guidelines.
Program Administration & Reporting
Track participation attendance and program outcomes.
Maintain documentation of activities achievements and incidents.
Participate in staff meetings training and development.
Additional Responsibilities
Assist with tournaments health fairs and Club-wide events.
Support partnerships with schools and community wellness organizations.
Represent the Club positively and maintain an organized program environment.
Follow all organizational policies and child safety standards.
Relationships
Internal: Daily contact with Club staff volunteers and youth members.

Education and Experience
High school diploma required; coursework in Physical Education Health Recreation or related fields preferred.
13 years of experience working with youth in sports recreation or wellness settings.
Knowledge of youth development fitness principles and health education.
Ability to lead engaging activities and manage group behaviors.
Valid State Drivers License required.
Abilities
Ability to lead physical fitness and recreation programs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to motivate and supervise youth.
Ability to maintain accurate records.
Environmental and Working Conditions
Club-based environment requiring facilitation of indoor and outdoor activities. Frequent interaction with youth and partners. Some evening or weekend work may be required.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Ability to walk run climb bend and lift up to 20 lbs. Ability to stay alert in active spaces and respond quickly to youth needs.
Compliance Requirements
Must pass pre-employment and annual background checks.
Must meet any required drug screening standards.
