Neurohospitalist and Neurovascular Inpatient APP Open Rank-Instructor, Senior Instructor

Job Summary:

The Department of Neurology has an ongoing need for an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner Physician Assistant or Clinical Nurse Specialist) with strong values and unique skills for our Neurohospitalist and Neurovascular Sections.

This position will provide both acute and chronic direct inpatient care to Neurologic patients. Successful candidates will have a proven track record in supporting the needs of patients developing differential diagnoses and prescribing treatments in collaboration with leading specialty providers. We are seeking individuals who are collaborative communicative proactive caring detail-oriented organized able to think critically are focused on quality and dedicated to personal growth.

The position is located at the Anschutz Medical Campus. Hours will vary depending on clinical schedules and department/hospital needs (some weekends and holidays) will be determined at time of offer.

Specialty

This APP will work in the Neurohospitalist and Neurovascular Sections within the Department of Neurology which consists of several physician providers fellows and APPs. This position provides inpatient and emergency department consultations throughout the hospital and will engage and collaborate with colleagues across the Department of Neurology and the University of Colorado Hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Screen evaluate diagnose manage medications and provide disease counseling

Acute and chronic inpatient care of patients with neurological disease including symptomatic therapy disease-modifying therapy and health maintenance care

Serves as first contact for clinician level patient communications

Engages in collaborative team-based care to make informed decisions for patient care

Supports and engages in continual learning and development among nursing staff physician assistants pharmacy staff medical students and neurology residents

Periodic educational presentation of lectures to patients and others

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor or Senior Instructor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Instructor:

Nurse Practitioner Physician Assistant or Clinical Nurse Specialist Degree

License to practice in Colorado or ability to obtain a license to practice in Colorado

Experience and desire to work with patients with chronic and sometimes severe illness

Experience completing documentation and performing tasks routinely assigned in medical settings using complex electronic record systems

Senior Instructor:

Nurse Practitioner Physician Assistant or Clinical Nurse Specialist Degree

License to practice in Colorado or ability to obtain a license to practice in Colorado

Experience and desire to work with patients with chronic and sometimes severe illness

Experience completing documentation and performing tasks routinely assigned in medical settings using complex electronic record systems

Two (2) years of experience working with neurological patients and/or experience with inpatient care

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with inpatient care

Knowledge of University of Colorado Health Hospitals

Background in neuroscience

Experience completing documentation using Epic Systems

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Instructor: $105000 to $115000

Senior Instructor: $115000 to $120000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
