GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Take the next step in your career with the Hamilton County Engineers Office! We are seeking someone who specializes in Land Surveying. Join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Hamilton County!
Under general direction the Professional Surveyor performs professional survey work as a member of a survey crew; researches and analyzes old records and surveys; writes metes and bounds descriptions.
QUALIFICATIONS: An example of acceptable qualifications:
Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Land Surveying or related field; or any equivalent combination of education experience and training which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid state of residency drivers license. Must remain insurable under the Countys vehicle insurance policy. Must possess Registration as a Professional Surveyor in State of Ohio. Must be able to obtain and possess a Remote Pilot License from the Federal Aviation Administration for operating a small UAS.

Computer copier fax telephone scanner and other standard modern/business office equipment; magnetic locators; prism poles; GPS equipment; instrument tripods; levels; machetes; measuring tapes; measuring wheels for distance; notebook computers; prisms; scanners; two-way radios; Total Station; Robotic Total Station; level rods; work truck; data collector UAS.
JOB DUTIES in order of importance
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION: For purposes of 42 USC 12101
- Performs surveys (e.g. court ordered boundary topographical construction surveys);
- Measures angles distances elevations grades etc.
- Maintains notes of measurements and monuments and computes to prepare final survey plat
- Sets final lines and monuments in field
- May supervise a crew of Survey Department (e.g. plans schedules and assigns employee work; may recommend approval of leave requests
- Performs as party chief in absence of supervisor
- Supervises assigned crews and directs the various surveying functions
- Plans and schedules survey activities to achieve effective utilization of available manpower
- Meets with contractors to show them where field survey points are
- Researches and analyzes records and surveys to lay out field work
- Assists surveyors and attorneys in locating old surveys and records
- Scans documents; makes copies; and writes metes and bounds descriptions
- Drafts Plats and deeds related to surveying
- May supervise a crew of Survey Department (e.g. plans schedules and assigns employee work
- May recommend approval of leave requests
- Performs as party chief in absence of supervisor
- Supervises assigned crews and directs the various surveying functions
- Plans and schedules survey activities to achieve effective utilization of available manpower
- Attends meetings and serves on committees as directed; attends training and seminars as directed
- Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential function Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance
- Due to the nature of the job when scheduled for an on-call assignment the Professional Surveyor must be available to return to work after normal work hours or on weekends and/or holidays when called to do so
