Summer School Overview: is a five-week summer school program for students entering grades 1-9 who have been diagnosed with a language-based learning difference such as dyslexia. Students participate in academic classes and recreational programming each day. Carroll School is an equal opportunity employer that offers competitive salaries.Position Summary::The Beginning Readers Supervisor is responsible for pre-program planning student class placement curriculum development training and supervision of staff assisting with daily program needs and parent communication for students entering grades 1-2 in the fall.Responsibilities:
  • Maintains an updated and organized bank of curriculum resources based on Carroll School instructional practices to provide to teachers
  • Prior to the start of the program read student files and collaborate with the Team to assign class groupings.
  • Attend planning meetings as needed during winter and spring
  • May assist with staff recruitment and occasional applicant interviews
  • Participates in Beginning Readers Assessment day in May
  • Attends & contributes to the one-day Admin Team Orientation prior to the two-day Staff Orientation
  • Plans & facilitates team meetings for BR teachers during Staff Orientation prior to the program
  • Oversees the Beginning Readers program providing direct supervision to BR teachers on Waltham campus
  • Monitor daily attendance and coverage for absent staff substitute teach as needed in case of teacher/tutor absences
  • Circulates through the classrooms and provides in-the-moment support as needed
  • Participates/contributes to Student of Concern meetings twice a week to discuss students and create action plans
  • Assists the Admin Team with response to daily student concerns as they arise
  • Meet and work with the Tutor Supervisors weekly or daily as needed.
  • Responds to parent communication on matters related to Beginning Reader students
  • Support review and edit staffs weekly Seesaw Posts
  • Lead workshops/meetings for staff to support them with report writing and parent conferences
  • Read edit and verify Aspen uploads of final reports
  • Schedule parent conferences for BR students provide administrator support in all conferences
  • Collects and provides feedback on staff experiences with the BR program
  • Participates in the De-Brief Meeting during the end of the program
