Job Summary
One of the main tasks of the spark plug development department is to define the right spark plug for a given internal combustion engine. For this purpose the thermal and electrical characterization of spark plugs in real engine environments as well as the engine knowledge are of high importance. A measurement and application engineer in spark plug engineering department is responsible for the temperature ignition voltage level and ionic current measurements as well es for the development and management of the corresponding measurement equipment. Further he/she is the carrier of the internal combustion engine knowhow including understanding of different engine architectures and combustion processes. Frequent business trips to customer locations for measurements and technical discussions are essential for the success in this job.
Qualifications :
Must-have-skills:
- University engineering degree or comparable on the field of internal combustion engine development
- Proven skills in handling measuring instruments
- General understanding of engine ignition system
- General understanding of high voltage phenomena
- General understanding of fuel ignition process and of combustion process development
- Ability and willingness for traveling to customer locations on demand
- General resilience good handling of time constraints
- Good English level
- Pro-activity independence accountability and ability to work in a team
Preferable skills:
- Proven experience with high voltage ignition system characterization by means of suitable measurements
- Understanding of spark plug function and design
- Experience in combustion process development and corresponding engine calibration strategies
