Job Description
The City of Saratoga Springs currently has an opening for an IT Technician. This is a Seasonal position in the Information Technology Services Department under the supervision of the IT Administrator. Support the IT Administrator in day to day tasks. Including trouble shooting desktop/laptop and printer issues across all City departments.
The IT Technician has significant daily contact with all levels of City personnel and deals regularly with sensitive or confidential information and therefore must exercise considerable skill in information handling privacy of records and judgment. Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure staff PCs/laptops printers and other peripherals are operational at all times.
- Installation of all new hardware/software.
- Provides training to end users relating to information technology and software.
- Responsible for network and phone moves/adds/changes (MACs/PCs).
- Responsible for coordinating and maintaining inventory replacement program and surplus procedures for City phones computer tablets software and other similar electronic equipment.
- Support and maintain wireless infrastructure.
- Maintain and support satellite users and network connections.
- Administer and configure the asset management program(s) including data collection report creation and training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Position is for applicants over 18 years of age.
- Graduation from high school or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in related fields and able to demonstrate aptitude or ability to be trained and perform above or related duties is preferred.
Certifications Required:
- A valid Utah Drivers License
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- General municipal government operations particularly procedures relating to information technologies.
- Basic networking.
- Business related software including but no limited to ESRI ArcGIS Suite Caselle Clarity Accounting Software Cityworks Microsoft Exchange Server and SQL Server. Specific softwares not required but desirable.
- Excellent PC computer operations.
- Correct use of English language and vocabulary.
Ability to:
- Interact and work cooperatively with appointed officials City staff and the public while maintaining a professional pleasant and courteous demeanor.
- Ability to use and teach others basic use of Microsoft Office programs including Word Excel Outlook Internet Explorer and Power Point.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in the server/network and desktop environments identify solutions and make implementation recommendations.
- Perform network administration.
- Participate in various information technology projects and support activities.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive files and materials accessed discussed or observed.
- Provide a high quality of customer service and relationships with those encountered during the course of work.
- Work independently and prioritize requests and system needs appropriately
- Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Exercise sound and good judgment at all times.
- Handle stressful situations calmly.
- Determine process and methods best suited to accomplish job duties.

The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Work involves walking talking hearing using hands to handle feel or operate objects tools or controls and reaching with hands and arms.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- The employee may be required to push pull lift and/or carry up to 80 pounds.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet while in the office and moderately loud when in the field.
- Work may periodically require the employee to climb balance bend stoop kneel crouch and/or crawl.
- The employee may be required to work in outside weather conditions in wet and/or humid conditions in high precarious places near moving mechanical parts near fumes airborne particles and/or toxic or caustic chemicals or near risk of electrical shock and/or vibration.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range:
The full wage range is as follows please note hiring will normally occur between the minimum and the midpoint.
Minimum - $18.69/hr.
Midpoint - $22.42/hr.
Maximum - $26.16/hr.
