Job Summary

Kasrawy Group is a leading company in the automotive industry providing high-quality services to clients in Tripoli Libya.

The Automotive Paint Supervisor Technician is responsible for overseeing all paint and refinishing operations within the collision center. This role includes managing paint shop personnel ensuring the highest quality of finished vehicle appearance controlling material inventory and ensuring strict compliance with all environmental and safety regulations for paint application and disposal.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Workflow Management

  • Supervision: Manage mentor and train a team of Painters Preppers and Finishers ensuring optimal productivity and technical skill development across the team.
  • Workflow Control: Prioritize and schedule the daily flow of vehicles through the prep and paint booths collaborating closely with the Job Controller and Body Shop Manager to meet production deadlines.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct final inspections of all painted vehicles to ensure color match accuracy gloss level texture and overall finish quality meet or exceed factory specifications before vehicles move to final assembly or detail.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and report on paint shop KPIs including material usage efficiency labor utilization and rework rates (comebacks).

Technical Expertise & Quality Control

  • Color Matching: Serve as the final authority on complex color matching and tinting using spectrophotometers and visual tools to achieve seamless blends especially for tri-coat and metallic finishes.
  • Application Standards: Ensure all paint application processesincluding mixing spraying curing and polishingadhere to manufacturer (OEM) guidelines and paint supplier technical data sheets.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve common paint defects such as sags runs fish eyes and solvent pops identifying the root cause in the prep or application process.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the regular cleaning and maintenance of the paint booth mixing room spray guns and air filtration systems to ensure optimal operating conditions and compliance.

Compliance & Inventory Management

  • Safety & EPA Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to environmental protection agency (EPA) and local regulations regarding VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) limits proper ventilation and the handling/disposal of hazardous paint waste.
  • Inventory Control: Manage the inventory of paint materials thinners reducers abrasives and other supplies minimizing waste and ensuring the availability of necessary stock while controlling costs.
  • Documentation: Ensure all safety data sheets (SDS) are accessible and all paint records and batch logs are accurately maintained for compliance audits.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Certification from a recognized technical school specializing in automotive refinishing.
  • 2 years of experience as an Automotive Painter with advanced skill in waterborne paint systems.
  • 2 years of supervisory or lead painter experience in a high-volume collision center.
  • I-CAR Certification (or similar industry recognized credential) in refinishing is highly preferred.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Refinishing Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of surface preparation masking blending and clear coat application techniques.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead delegate and hold team members accountable for quality and efficiency standards.
  • Environmental & Safety Knowledge: Thorough understanding of paint shop safety protocols and environmental regulations (e.g. proper respirator use fire suppression).
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous color perception and an intense focus on achieving a flawless finish under pressure.
  • Cost Control: Strong analytical skills related to tracking material consumption and managing shop expenses.
