About the Role
The Director of Specialty Finance plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the organizations financial interests by proactively managing risk and ensuring compliance across all specialty finance activities. This leader not only directs the operational and analytical functions of the portfolio but also fosters a culture of accountability and continuous improvement collaborating with cross-functional teams to adapt strategies in response to evolving market trends and regulatory requirements.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversees the policies and procedures necessary to identify address and mitigate the inherent risks (Credit Interest Rate Liquidity Operational Price Compliance Strategic and Reputation) associated with the specialty finance portfolio.
- Provides oversight of Portfolio Management Portfolio Analysis Billing & Collecting and Contract Administration for the specialty finance portfolio.
- Manages accounting processes connected to the specialty finance portfolio.
- Directs impairment analysis for applicable assets within the portfolio.
- Handles the sale/use and property tax processes and coordinates other tax matters related to the specialty finance portfolio.
- Develops and maintains formal policies procedures and guidelines to ensure effective management of the specialty finance portfolio.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in specialty finance portfolio management or a related financial services domain.
- Proven leadership experience managing teams and complex portfolios within financial services.
- Strong understanding of risk management portfolio analysis and regulatory frameworks applicable to specialty finance.
- Experience with tax compliance accounting standards and impairment analysis.
- Extensive knowledge of specialty finance products market trends and portfolio risk factors.
- Exceptional analytical skills including the ability to interpret financial statements and conduct detailed portfolio analysis.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in financial software portfolio management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to develop implement and monitor policies and procedures for portfolio risk mitigation.
- Adaptability and strategic thinking in a dynamic regulatory and business environment.
Education
- Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting Business Administration or a related field; Masters degree or professional certification (e.g. CPA CFA) preferred.
