Job Summary
Energy storage is the most exciting area in energy today. Massive amounts of energy storage are required if renewable energy is to take its rightful place on the electric provides an alternative to the most common type of battery lithium-ion because the battery technology that works so well in our pockets doesnt work as well at the grid scale; it wears out limits use and even catches fire.
Manufactured as a standardised product in a factory Invinitys vanadium flow batteries dont degrade wont catch fire and can be operated continuously from full charge to full discharge for over 30 has 75 megawatt-hours of its modular battery systems in 82 projects across 15 countries - more than any other company in the space. Invinityis seeking aProduct DevelopmentEngineer to join its product development org on theBalance of System Design team(Mechanical).Reporting to the Team Lead Balance of System you willbe responsible foridentifyingandunderstanding key parameters for new manufacturingmethods and processesand then collaborating with the design team to take full advantages of these new will be empowered to make key design and process decisions and work with others to evolveInvinitysproducts and processes.
Responsibilities:
- Identifynew manufacturing methods and processes work withinternaland externalpartnersto understandcapabilities and feedback information into the design process.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including supply chain manufacturing production & quality tolaunch new parts into production
- Evaluateprototypes andperformfirst article inspections providing feedback to suppliersand design team.
- Develop andconductverification testing to confirm product performancequalityand manufacturability.
- Product mechanical design includingcomponentdesigncomponentselectionand overall product design.
- Createandmaintain3D CAD models assembly and part drawings bills of materialscomponentand sub-system specifications.
- Create andmaintainengineering documentation (Specifications FMEAs FTAsetc)
- Travel to Suppliers(Domestic & International)toverify capabilities andevaluate prototypes
Qualifications:
- ABachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering(. equivalent.
- 4 years experiencein a product development and design role
- Advanced SolidWorks orOnshape3D modeling user
- Experience designing and qualifying parts using a variety of manufacturing techniquesincludingmetal/plasticwelding forming andmolding
- Experience creating fabrication drawings and a working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2018)
- Experience with PLMsystems and structured engineering release processes.
- Experience coordinating with Suppliers and Contract Manufacturers(experience with suppliers in China an asset)
- Native Proficiency in English (Reading/Writing/Speaking) and excellent communication skills
- Safety focused and knowledgeable ofsafetyregulatory requirements(UL/CSA/CE/IEC/GB&T).

- Working Verbal Proficiency Mandarin & Basic Reading Proficiency in Chinese
$105000 - $120000 a year
The salary range for this Mechanical Engineering role is $105000 to $120000 and will depend on your specific skills experience and education.
This is a hybrid role is based in our Vancouver office with flexible hourstocollaborate with our global suppliers (Europe/Asia)
