:59 PMCBC Edmonton is looking for a skilled and collaborative associate producer to join our visual storytelling team.
The successful candidate will be an experienced journalist who has strong skills in both visual production and editorial decision-making and who thrives when working under tight deadlines. As such you will be equally comfortable troubleshooting in a control room as you are choosing the best clips to use in a video for TikTok.
Reporting to the senior producer of visuals you will be expected to support and create strong visual journalism across platforms including streaming social digital and TV. Much of your time will be spent editing and packaging visual content for visual platforms tailoring the content for the needs of each audience. You will also be responsible for providing technical and production support for live broadcasts both breaking and planned across platforms. And you will work closely with other producers to determine story priorities and rollouts and collaborate with various teams across platforms and locations to ensure our visual content reaches the widest possible audience.

You will put audience needs at the centre of your journalism ensuring our programming connects our audiences to the news they need to know the stories that affect their lives and the issues that resonate in their communities. You are passionate about Edmonton and northern Alberta and its diversity of people and viewpoints and you champion stories from under-represented communities.
You will have a keen eye and a passion for paying attention to the details and as such you will ensure that all CBC journalistic and production standards are met. Above all you will bring a positive and collaborative approach to all your work putting teamwork at the core of your objectives.
This role requires full-time on-site presence.
Regular working hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.
Your responsibilities:
Research gather edit package and distribute and/or deliver content for visual platforms (streaming social digital and TV) under tight deadlines and with high attention to detail.
Respond quickly to breaking news events as they unfold making sure video content is edited and published to the appropriate platforms as quickly as possible.
Operate production tools and systems to provide technical support for live broadcasts.
Tailor visual content for audiences across platforms and programs.
Write materials to support visual content such as titles captions on-screen text etc.
Monitor incoming content to assess how it can best be used visually.
Contribute original story ideas and innovative treatments to further CBC Edmontons creative visual storytelling.
Provide technical and video production support and guidance to colleagues.
Your profile:
Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced daily news environment.
Excellent technical aptitude with control room experience in live broadcast programming.
Strong ability to perform a number of functions efficiently and quickly including troubleshooting during live broadcasts.
Strong news judgment and a demonstrated ability to react quickly to breaking news and changing priorities.
Expertise in video editing using Avid Media Composer Adobe Premiere or similar software.
Knowledge of emerging visual storytelling formats and willingness to embrace change and new tasks across all CBC platforms.
A rigorous attention to detail.
Ability to generate strong story ideas that meet the needs of our audiences in Edmonton and northern Alberta.
A proven work ethic strong communication skills and a positive team-first attitude.
A strong desire to live and promote the values of diversity and an inclusive and respectful work culture.
Possession of a valid drivers licence and a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canadas insurance company.
University degree in journalism or equivalent with a minimum of two years of recent related experience.
