Description of Work

Position will serve as Survey Party Chief in the Smithfield Residents Office.

Your work will include performing survey work on complex construction projects supervising survey crews and lower-level technicians making independent decisions and communicating effectively with co-workers contractors personnel and the general public.
You will be responsible for reviewing the contractors survey submittals and providing checks of their construction layouts in the field.
You must have the ability to read interpret and explain such things as construction plans contract provisions and specification/inspection procedures.
In this position you will be exposed to outside environmental hazards confined areas and may be required to work at night and on weekends. Safety Toe Shoes required.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Grade: NC14 Salary Range: $50633 - $88607

Management prefers applicants with the following:

Experience using surveying equipment instruments levels data collectors and GPS equipment
Experience with mathematical functions including algebra geometry and trigonometry
Experience performing highway construction stakeouts
Experience conducting independent moderately complex surveying
Computer experience including office software and drafting software

Additional Expectations:

Ability to read interpret and explain such things as construction plans contract provisions and specification/inspection procedures. This position will be exposed to outside environmental hazards confined areas and may be required to work at night and on weekends. Safety Toe Shoes required.

Minimum Education and Experience

Associates degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology or Survey Technology from an appropriately accredited institution and seven (7) years of progressive technician experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
