We invite online applications from our sworn members for a position as a Police Resource Outreach Supporting Education (PROSE) Officer effective April 6th 2026.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The intent of the role of the PROSE program within the GEDSB will focus on community building with the purpose of building relationships between students schools and police. Under the direction of the NCO i/c Community Safety and Crime Prevention the officer will facilitate opportunities for education and promotion of proactive strategies focused on creating and sustaining safe welcoming and cooperative school climates. They will ensure constant collaboration with school staff through the lens of human rights and equity.
Additionally the officer should be a positive influence within the school and facilitate a positive community partnership within the educational sector.
The officer shall in the performance of duties respect and protect human dignity and maintain and uphold the human rights of all persons.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver classroom presentations in partnership with teachers
- Deliver presentations to staff parents/caregivers on a variety of topics of interest to these groups
- Be present and participate in school events such as track meets assemblies school performances refereeing intramurals presenting awards at monthly assemblies open houses involvement in games clubs music and drama clubs
- Conduct informal drop-ins during break times to interact with students in a community-building capacity
- Participate in/help lead community support drives such as a canned food drives winter clothing drives back-to-school supplies drives
- Become involved in mentoring programs where appropriate.
- Beavailable to assist in theorganization and arrangement ofevents (i.e. Police Week) and represent the Service at public forums and displays.
- Carry out duties in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Police Services Act R.S.O. and other lawful assignments
- Be accountable to supervision
- Perform such other duties as are lawfully assigned

Knowledge
- A thorough understanding and good working knowledge of criminal investigative procedures and the Youth Criminal Justice Act
- A thorough understanding and good working knowledge of the organizational structure Routine Orders Policy and Procedures practices within the Service and human resources issues
- Thorough understanding of relevant legislation regulations Policy & Procedures C.A.L.E.A. and the Adequacy Standards Regulation as it pertains to duties performed
- Thorough understanding of PROSETM (developed in collaboration with Grand Erie staff the Brantford Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police in Brant County Norfolk County and Haldimand County with a focus on co-developed and co-delivered modules aligned with Ontario curriculum expectations.
Skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Able to deliver presentations in a clear and concise manner
- Demonstrated time-management and organizational skills
- Computer literate in CAD RMS Niche presentations and Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Must be capable of handling multi-tasks produce work under strict and definitive deadlines
Abilities
- Ability to exercise good judgment and make good decisions
- Ability to work as a team member
- Be creative in problem solving and a solution oriented individual
- Ability to prepare lesson plans and present lessons and lectures
- Ability to observe retain and prepare clear concise and accurate reports and operate general office equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of comprehension and to handle the public with courtesy and authority with particular emphasis on effective interaction with youth
- Must be capable of handling multi-tasks produce work under strict and definitive deadlines
- Proven ability to work productively without supervision
- All other qualifications the position justifies
