Finance Planning and Budgeting (FPB) encompasses the major central financial planning analytical and budgeting functions for the University of Washington including:

  • Finance & Budget Strategy

  • Institutional Analytics & Decision Support

  • Policy Planning & State Operations

  • University Business Services

TheInstitutional Analystserves as a key contributorwithinthe Institutional Analytics & Decision Support (IA/IR) unit at the University of Washington. This position supports institutional assessment accreditation and evaluation initiatives by gathering cleaning analyzing and interpreting complex higher education data. The analystassistsin preparing reports and presentations that communicate findings to university leadership academic units and external stakeholders. Working collaboratively across administrative and academic departments the analyst supports compliance monitoring institutional effectiveness and evidence-based policy implementation. The role requires independent judgment analytical precision and the ability to translate data into actionable insights that inform strategic planning and decision-making across the University.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Institutional Assessment Accreditation and Compliance Support

  • Assistwith institutional assessment and accreditation projects by gathering analyzing and interpreting data to support compliance and continuous improvement

  • Prepare required reports documentation and evidence for accreditation and external accountability processes.

  • Monitor institutional performance indicators and contribute to compliance tracking and reporting

Data Collection Management and Analysis

  • Collect cleanvalidate and organize data from multiple institutional sources to ensure accuracy and reliability

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses using tools such as Excel SPSS SAS or R

  • Developmaintain and document data definitions methodologies and analytical processes

Reporting Visualization and Communication

  • Prepare reports dashboards and visualizations to communicate findings effectively to leadership and campus stakeholders

  • Translate analytical results into clear and actionable insights that support decision-making and policy development

  • Contribute to institutional research publications presentations and online data resources

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with academic administrative and technical partners across the University to align data metrics and assessment processes

  • Serve as a resource for unitsseekingto improve their use of data for planning evaluation and decision-making

  • Participate in committees working groups or project teams focused on institutional effectiveness and analytics

Policy and Strategic Support

  • Assistexecutive leadership with data-informed policy implementation and evaluation

  • Conduct research and analysis to support institutional planning resource allocation and strategic initiatives

  • Recommend data-driven approaches to improve institutional performance and accountability

  • Train and cross train team across the team and organization to ensure organizational sustainability and operational continuity

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Institutional Research Higher Education Administration Public Policy Social Sciences Statistics Data Analytics Economics or a related field and three years of experience in institutional research enrollment analytics or related data analysis within higher education or a comparable environment

  • Proficiencywith data analysis and statistical software such as Microsoft Excel SPSS R SAS or equivalent

  • Experience designing administering and analyzing surveys using tools such as Qualtrics

  • Excellent skills in quantitative and qualitative analysis including multivariate statistical methods

  • Experience working with enrollment or student information systems (e.g. Banner) and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau Power BI) preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences

  • Demonstrated experience in working with diverse groups and teams; create a culture of inclusion and equity throughout the team while supporting the overall culture of FPB

Desired:

  • Masters degree in Higher Education Administration Public Policy Data Analytics Statistics or related field

  • Experience supporting regional or programmatic accreditation processes

  • Proficiencywith SQL or similar query tools for data extraction and reporting

  • Experience developing dashboards or visualizations in Tableau or Power BI

  • Familiarity with data governance and compliance standards such as FERPA

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills with the ability to convey analytical findings to diverse audiences

Compensation Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$73140.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$90000.00 annual
