Description of Work
This position performs a variety of semiskilled and skilled tasks in connection with the maintenance and repair of buildings structures equipment vehicles and watercraft at Roanoke Island Festival Park. The position will assist in the maintenance of interior and exterior facilities of site requiring skills in carpentry roofing and painting. Electrical plumbing and HVAC work may also be required. Occasional groundskeeping or custodial tasks may be required.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Recruitment Range: $34270 - $47121 Annually

Minimum Education and Experience
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience. High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma
AND
and one (1) year of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualification May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I II III or Universal technician as required by Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations Part 82 Subpart F.

Roanoke Island Festival Park is a 27-acre site. First opening in 1983 with the Elizabeth II a 16th century replica sailing vessel a visitor/ticket sales center offices and a 50-seat 1998 an expansion project was completed adding an 8500 . Adventure Museum; a 240-seat film/small performance indoor theatre; . meeting room; an outdoor performance pavilion with lawn seating for 3500; a museum store; administrative offices; maintenance facilities; waterside boardwalks; and a public Kayak Launch.

Veterans and National Guard Preference
Applicants seeking Veterans Preference must attach a DD Form 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty along with the state application.
Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS) along with the state application if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.
Applicants who are former member of either the NC Army National Guard or the NC Air National Guard with honorable discharge and six years of creditable service must attach a copy of the DD 256 or NGB 22 along with the state application.

Sign On Bonus Eligibility
To be eligible for a sign-on bonus the candidate must not have worked as a probationary permanent or time-limited employee in the last 12 months as an employee in North Carolina state government including without limitation the judicial system state executive branch agencies and the university system subject to the State Human Resources Act. Employee eligible for a sign-on must work at least 20 hours per week.
