Requirements
  • Degree in finance or related discipline
  • A minimum of 15 years relevant experience with managerial exposure in corporate tax environment / accounting / audit firms
  • Member of HKICPA or equivalent
  • In-depth knowledge and practical usage of domestic and international tax laws and regulations. An exposure to Hong Kong Chinese Mainland UK and Australian tax regimes would be advantageous
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex tax legislation and provide business orientated strategic practical tax advice in different jurisdictions
  • Strong inter-personal skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and the ability to effectively influence and persuade all levels of management
  • Proficiency in tax technology and automation tools with a focus on improving efficiency and accuracy in tax processes and reporting
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Head of Group Tax to lead and manage the Corporations tax function operating across a diverse range of jurisdictions. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with domestic and international tax laws optimizing the Corporations tax position and providing strategic direction and guidance to senior management on the tax implications of business decisions impacting the Corporation. The Head of Group Tax will play a key role in shaping and supporting the development of the Corporations overall business strategy.
Responsibilities
Impact on the Business / Function
  • Oversee monitor and review the overall tax compliance of the Corporation including corporate tax transfer pricing other related statutory filings and individual tax compliance including the management of international assignees and human resources policies
  • Lead the BEPS 2.0 implementation program identify strategies to minimize business disruption while ensuring compliance with statutory rules and regulations
  • Drive effective resolution of areas of dispute and uncertainty arbitrating between the conflicting requirements as necessary and providing consistency in resolution
  • Develop and implement effective tax planning strategies within the Corporations risk appetite
  • Build and maintain open transparent and constructive relationships with tax authorities in the Corporations areas of operation
Operational Effectiveness and Control
  • Ensure that an efficient and effective tax risk management and compliance model is in place. Review identify assess and mitigate tax-related risks by designing and implementing appropriate internal controls and procedures
  • Review monitor and improve work standards guidelines and best-practice policies to ensure production of quality management reports and maintenance of effective and efficient work processes using tax technology tools
  • Manage independent internal and/or external assurance programs to ensure highest standards of compliance

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Lead representation and advocacy for the Corporation on tax matters and influence decisions taken by external and internal stakeholders on all tax matters impacting the Corporations businesses and functions
  • Think commercially and work collaboratively to provide practical tax advice and insight to support the Corporations strategic priorities
  • Ensure that the tax consequences of the Corporations geographic footprint legal structure and business activities are fully understood by relevant stakeholders and drive recommendations to optimize the tax costs/benefits arising therefrom

Leadership and Teamwork

  • Be an active constructive and collaborative member of the key Tax/Finance leadership teams and governance forums aiding in the development and growth of the Corporation business operations new investments and markets
  • Be a tax leader with strong tax technical skills allied to an ability to distill complex topics into simple concepts to enable effective communication with and decision making by key stakeholders
  • Provide tax perspectives to strategic planning growth initiatives and cross-border structuring ensuring that tax considerations are fully integrated into the Corporations long-term business objectives
