Job Summary

This position will either be filled as a Dietitian I (Req: ) or a Dietitian II.

University of Iowa Health Care - Medical Center North Liberty department of Food and Nutrition is seeking a Dietitian II. This position uses nutrition care process to assess evaluate and provide medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling for patients in program areas as assigned.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides quality care including nutrition screening evaluation assessment treatment and documentation of patient care plan appropriate for complex patients.

  • Assesses nutritional status and instructs/counsels on appropriate diet.

  • Participates as active member of departmental/hospital committees concerning problems affecting patients food habits and needs

  • Participates in health team rounds and short-term projects.

  • Participates on Clinical Masters selection committee.

  • Educates students with on-the-job training.

  • Evaluates students.

  • Provides students with necessary support and assistance to ensure work is completed. Educates/trains new personnel as assigned and acts as a mentor to new personnel. Conducts peer chart reviews/audits for Dietitian

  • Seeks opportunities to enhance ones own professional knowledge skills and development including research for publication/presentation.

  • Lead monthly CEU program for dietitian staff.

  • Obtain advanced credentialing.

  • Serve as a clinical resource to peers.

  • Maintain effective working relationships with faculty staff students and the public. Functional supervision over Diet Clerks.

Schedule:50%
Hourly: $22.99 to commensurate
Hours:Monday-Friday 4 hour shifts preferably in the morning hours

Minimum Eligibility Requirement:

  • A masters degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required

  • Licensure by the State of Iowa is required.

  • Reasonable (5 years) clinical nutrition experience is required

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated competency of patient care in pediatric adult and geriatric populations across a wide range of medical conditions in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Experience in making enteral and parental recommendations and selecting appropriate formulas
