Description of Work

The Behavior Programming Specialist (BPS) supports the behavioral programming component of habilitation plans for individuals with significant intellectual or developmental disabilities. Working under a staff psychologist the BPS collects and organizes behavioral data. They assist in evaluating adaptive developmental and social behaviors. The role includes helping develop implement train and monitor behavior intervention programs while engaging directly with residents. Additionally the BPS serves as a liaison to the treatment team and contributes to overall habilitation planning.

Salary Range: $31084.00 - $54397.00

  • The role requires knowledge of learning theory behavioral analysis and their application to individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities.

  • The specialist must understand data collection methods and behavior assessments to develop effective support programs.

  • They should be skilled in observing recording and evaluating adaptive social and developmental behaviors.

  • The position demands adherence to all relevant regulations and standards in behavior programming.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential for working effectively with staff and residents.

Work Hours: 8 AM - 5 PM Monday - Friday

    Minimum Education and Experience

    Bachelors degree in psychology including coursework in behavior modification from an appropriately accredited institution;

    or
    Bachelors degree in child development social work education nursing or closely related degree including coursework in behavior modification from an appropriately accredited institution and six months of experience in a developmental center or developmental disability setting;

    or

    Associates degree in human services area from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience providing assessment of adaptive developmental and social behavior goal writing collecting and interpreting behavioral data and developing and implementing behavior modification programs;

    or

    an equivalent combination of education and experience.
