Description of Work

The NCDAC / Support Services / Division of Engineering Construction and Maintenance (DECM) is recruiting for an energized and collaborative Maintenance/Construction Technician III to be a part of the Coastal Region Maintenance Team. This position reports to the Coastal Region Maintenance Yard in Greenville NC and will be tasked with completing general preventative maintenance and like-in-kind Force Account system replacements.

A successful candidate for this position shall have journeyman level experience in the construction installation maintenance and repair of general plumbing HVAC AND/OR electrical systems equipment and machinery; be able to work independently to complete work assignments received by a supervisor; read and interpret blueprints; and perform other assigned duties.

Management Preference:

  • Demonstrates experience in the installation maintenance or repair of general plumbing heating ventilation air conditioning AND/OR electrical systems including but not limited to general carpentry concrete masonry water and wastewater piping chillers air handlers pumps ventilators fans piping mini splits lighting building conduit and wire kitchen equipment etc.
  • Experience with the tools methods practices materials and equipment used within the general plumbing HVAC AND/OR electrical construction trades relating to the maintenance of buildings.
  • Experience with reading schematics and blueprints.

This position requires the daily commute to Coastal Region Maintenance Yard in Greenville NC. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. The work schedule is Monday Friday and may require some weekend work and overnight travel to meet the demands of the organization.

The salary grade for this position is NC09. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase MAY result.

Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualification May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I II III or Universal technician as required by Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations Part 82 Subpart F.
