The Yale University School of Art invites applications from throughout the world for an assistant professor faculty appointment in the area of Graphic Design to begin July 1 2026. The school serves students from all over the country and world. Applicants must hold an MFA or equivalent degree preferably in the field of graphic design.
The successful candidate will teach both graduate- and undergraduate-level courses advise graduate and undergraduate students oversee masters theses participate in critique sessions mentor students serve on School and University committees and actively contribute to and participate in the Schools vibrant co-curricular programming.
In the short term the faculty member will assist the Director of Graduate Studies on student facing communication and the long term the faculty member will be among a group of faculty members expected to rotate the departments leadership.
We seek a designer with a practice distinguished by formal and critical inquiry who is technologically forward-thinking has the ability to foster exchange across disciplines and a broad knowledge of graphic designs multivalent histories. A robust and individuated professional practice with a record of compelling contributions to the discipline and a minimum of 3 years of college-level teaching and service experience are necessary. A fully engaged presence on campus is required as well as a willingness to actively participate in service and collaboratively shape the future of the Graphic Design area at the School of Art.
