The NC Department of Administration is the business manager for North Carolina state government. The department oversees Government Operations such as building construction purchasing and contracting for goods and services maintaining facilities managing state vehicles acquiring and disposing of real property and operating auxiliary services such as courier mail delivery and the sale of state and federal surplus property. Additionally the department manages many of the states advocacy programs that provide assistance and services to diverse segments of the states population that have been traditionally underserved.

Job Duties: To engage various audiences including youth teachers and local government staff about climatechange resilience building and community planning.
Major Task to be Performed: ) Support the NC Museum of Natural Sciences YES Climate Ambassadors program a week-long summer program for
students from across the state. Work with program directors and guests to guide students through curriculum on topics such
as: resilience extreme heat wildfires and air quality flooding and solutions. Program participants do hands-on activitiesaround each topic collect data using sensors participate in service learning events like a stream clean-up and areencouraged to complete a community action project after the program.
2) Support the State Resilience Offices virtual learning program for stormwater managers in the Albemarle include engagement with local government officials background research and writing documenting lessonslearned supporting virtual meetings coordinating with guest speakers and experts note-taking and presenting.
Final Product or Outcome Anticipated: The Resilience Engagement Intern will build their capacity for communicatingresilience concepts to a broad range of audiences and stakeholders. They will learn from educators experts and local
government officials as well as from students. They will also develop a documentation process for the Stormwater WorkingGroups efforts.

2026 State of North Carolina Internship Period: Monday May 18 Friday July 24 2026
This project will require the intern to engage with different audiences about climate anddisaster resilience. They should be comfortable speaking about complex issues in plain terms and able to work bothindependently and collaboratively. They should be good at listening and integrating feedback from supervisors and externalaudiences. GIS skills or visualization development skills a plus.
This position will close at 11:59 p.m. the night before the end date.
