Job Summary

COOK - FULL-TIME

Position Summary:
The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious well-balanced meals that meet residents dietary needs and preferences while maintaining high standards of food safety sanitation and presentation. This role plays a key part in supporting the overall health satisfaction and well-being of residents through quality meal service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus recipes and dietary requirements.

  • Ensure all meals are prepared on schedule and served at proper temperatures.

  • Follow portion control and presentation standards to ensure consistency and minimize waste.

  • Adhere to all food safety sanitation and infection control policies and procedures.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen including equipment utensils and storage areas.

  • Assist with receiving and storing food supplies ensuring proper rotation and inventory control.

  • Communicate with dietary staff and leadership regarding resident needs menu changes or special requests.

  • Support compliance with state local and facility regulations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Prior experience in food preparation preferably in a healthcare senior living or institutional setting.

  • Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation standards (ServSafe certification a plus).

  • Ability to follow recipes and diet orders accurately.

  • Strong teamwork time management and communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.

  • Ability to work in a warm kitchen environment and handle kitchen equipment safely.
