This is a 7 days on/7 days off evening position working every other weekend and holidays as they fall on weekly rotation.
Carilion Clinic is a six-hospital health system located in beautiful Southwest Virginia. Carilions flagship hospital Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital is a 763-bed academic medical center level I trauma center tertiary/quaternary referral center and Certified Primary Stroke center that has consistently been ranked by US News as a Best Hospital in the state of Virginia. It is also affiliated with the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and has numerous post-graduate training programs including multiple medical and surgical residencies and fellowships.
Our pharmacy-led medication history program contributes to an important goal for Carilion: the completion of a Best Possible Medication History (BPMH) for every admitted patient. This is a critical part of patient care so that our providers may begin clinical decision-making with the most accurate medication list upon patient this role you will work along-side your medication history technician colleagues and also have peripheral oversight from a medication history pharmacist. Skills required include a positive-attitude the ability to converse well with patients a keen attention to detail baseline knowledge of medications an inquisitive mind and drive to succeed. We are hoping to expand our program to positively impact more patients and are looking for dedicated technicians who are seeking a career in medication history.
What We Require:
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience: 3 to 5 years of pharmacy experience required.
Licensure certification and/or registration: Registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professionals required. Pharmacy Technician Certified Board Certification relevant to work area is required within 6 months of hire.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to maintain familiarity with a large number (1000-2000) of medications and focused on attention to detail/accuracy. Must be customer service oriented. Requires knowledge and use of general office equipment and procedures including computer/keyboard. Must be able to solve simple mathematical and logistical problems in the work environment. Must be able to effectively budget time work efficiently and accurately and follow procedures with minimum supervision.
