Our pharmacy-led medication history program contributes to an important goal for Carilion: the completion of a Best Possible Medication History (BPMH) for every admitted patient. This is a critical part of patient care so that our providers may begin clinical decision-making with the most accurate medication list upon patient this role you will work along-side your medication history technician colleagues and also have peripheral oversight from a medication history pharmacist. Skills required include a positive-attitude the ability to converse well with patients a keen attention to detail baseline knowledge of medications an inquisitive mind and drive to succeed. We are hoping to expand our program to positively impact more patients and are looking for dedicated technicians who are seeking a career in medication history.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience: 3 to 5 years of pharmacy experience required.
Licensure certification and/or registration: Registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professionals required. Pharmacy Technician Certified Board Certification relevant to work area is required within 6 months of hire.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to maintain familiarity with a large number (1000-2000) of medications and focused on attention to detail/accuracy. Must be customer service oriented. Requires knowledge and use of general office equipment and procedures including computer/keyboard. Must be able to solve simple mathematical and logistical problems in the work environment. Must be able to effectively budget time work efficiently and accurately and follow procedures with minimum supervision.
