Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior IT Production Support AS/400 professional to join a critical Application Production Support environment within the financial services sector.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working close to production systems handling incidents ensuring batch stability and proactively improving system availability and performance in a mission-critical AS/400 environment.

You will play a key role in incident management BAU service requests infrastructure maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Provide L1/L2 Production Support for application system and batch-related issues primarily on AS/400 with secondary exposure to Unix and Windows environments;

Key Responsibilities

Monitor production batches and infrastructure components ensuring timely resolution of batch failures;

Act promptly on incidents and escalate risks or critical issues when required;

Ensure compliance with SLAs service objectives and operational roadmaps;

Create maintain and improve application support documentation and knowledge articles;

Ensure all production deliverables follow industry standards and best practices;

Identify opportunities for automation to improve availability performance and operational efficiency.

Mandatory Technical Requirements (must be clearly stated on the CV)

7 years of overall IT experience in infrastructure and application production support;

At least 3 years of hands-on support experience with AS/400 technologies including:

o DB2/400

o CL/400

o SQL/400

o RPG / RPGLE

o COBOL/400

Strong troubleshooting skills in AS/400 and Unix environments;

Solid knowledge of SQL queries and data analysis;

Strong understanding of AS/400 subsystems job descriptions job queues job logs journals and system objects;

Practical knowledge of OS/400 and CL/400 commands;

Experience with job scheduling systems;

Basic understanding of BRMS (Backup Recovery and Media Services);

Familiarity with ITIL practices.

Nice to Have

Experience with core banking platforms (e.g. Olympic Transact or similar);

Experience using ServiceNow JIRA or similar production support tools;

Background in AS/400 development (RPGLE / COBOL/400).
