Job Summary
Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Location: Rochester NY 14621
Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Night Shift 3 12-Hour Shifts
Hours: 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
Pay Rate: $48 $55 per hour
Position Overview
A leading acute care facility in Rochester NY is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) assignment. This role supports adult and geriatric patients requiring step-down level monitoring including post-surgical and long-term pulmonary patients. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a fast-paced high-acuity environment and demonstrate strong clinical judgment and teamwork skills.
Schedule Requirements
Night shift: 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
Every other weekend required
Some holidays required (rotational)
All RTO and special scheduling requests must be submitted at time of application
Facility may cancel up to three (3) shifts during the 13-week assignment without penalty
Key Responsibilities
Deliver step-down level nursing care to PCU patients
Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize/manage dysrhythmias
Respond to Rapid Response and Code situations per protocol
Administer oxygen therapy and manage non-invasive airways
Manage non-titrated cardiac drips and administer blood products
Perform central and peripheral line care
Provide IV therapy phlebotomy and maintain isolation precautions
Accurately document patient care using EPIC EMR
Float to other units within scope of practice as needed
Qualifications
Active New York State RN license (compact licenses not accepted)
BLS ACLS and NIHSS certifications required
Recent PCU / Stepdown / IMC / DOU experience
EPIC charting experience required
Strong communication and collaboration skills
First-time travel nurses are welcome
Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
