Maintenance Worker 2-Construction

The City of Spring Hill is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Maintenance Worker 2 within the Public Works Department. This position is responsible for operating equipment and performing skilled construction and maintenance work. This is a full-time non-exempt position reporting to the Construction Superintendent.

• Operates jackhammers mowers brush chippers pipe saws asphalt/concrete saws and other small equipment.
• Works with and assists crews in digging ditches and trenches hoisting material tools and equipment and laying pipes.
• Assists with installing and maintaining traffic control devices.
• Performs all duties in accordance with applicable safety and security standards.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment; reports defects and repairs needed to supervisor; cleans equipment.
• Assists with installing and maintaining traffic control devices.
• Perform scheduled stormwater inspections/repairs on jobsites
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of standard construction equipment.
• Knowledge of hazards associated with equipment operation and applicable safety rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of traffic laws and ordinances governing equipment operation.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and appropriate safety precautions used in laboring work.
• Ability to quickly and accurately adjust machine or vehicle controls.
• Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Tennessee Drivers License.
• Stormwater Level 1 Certification required or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.
