Job Overview
The IT Operations Engineer (AVP) is responsible for maintaining monitoring and enhancing the organizations IT Infrastructure. Working as an IT Operations Engineer you will ensure high availability reliability and security of systems networks and applications.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure and System Management
- Manage and support Linux and Windows environments to ensure stability and performance.
- Perform routine system monitoring capacity planning and performance tuning.
- Administer virtualization platforms (e.g. VMware) for optimal resource utilization.
- Manage container orchestration platforms (e.g. Kubernetes OpenShift) for scalable deployments.
Network & Security Operations
- Implement and manage firewalls VPNs load balancers and security policies.
- Troubleshoot network issues and maintain infrastructure (TCP/IP DNS routing DHCP VLANs firewalls switches load balancers).
- Participate in vulnerability assessments and remediation activities.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards.
- Configure and support secure file transfer flows using protocols such as SFTP FTPS HTTPS and AS2.
Incident and Problem Management
- Respond to and resolve service disruptions system alerts and outages promptly.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate documentation for incidents changes and infrastructure procedures.
Backup & Disaster Recovery (DR)
- Ensure backup and restore operations are performed and validated regularly.
- Maintain disaster recovery plans and participate in scheduled DR testing.
Automation and DevOps Support
- Automate operational workflows using scripts (PowerShell Bash Python).
- Support CI/CD pipelines and configuration management tools (Ansible Puppet Terraform).
- Collaborate with DevOps/SRE teams to improve system resilience and deployment processes.
- Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 coverage.
Service Level Management
- Define implement and maintain Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with internal teams and vendors.
- Monitor service performance against business requirements and recommend enhancements for improved delivery.
Key Capabilities/Experience
- Strong experience in Linux and Windows administration.
- Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms (VMware) and container orchestration (Kubernetes OpenShift).
- Proficiency in cloud platforms (Azure AWS GCP) and CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps Jenkins).
- Skilled in scripting and automation (Bash PowerShell Python; Perl or Golang is a plus).
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP DNS DHCP VLANs routing load balancing firewalls).
- Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus Grafana Sentinel).
- Familiarity with configuration management and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform Ansible Puppet).
- Ability to collaborate effectively with development QA operations and product teams for smooth integration and deployments.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of secure file transfer protocols (SFTP FTPS HTTPS AS2).
- Experience with containerization and microservices architecture (Docker Kubernetes OpenShift).
- Exposure to Apache Cassandra or similar distributed databases.
- Familiarity with serverless functions (e.g. Azure Functions).
Minimum Qualifications
- Proficiency in Linux and Windows system administration.
- Strong scripting skills for automation and operational workflows.
- Experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Solid understanding of networking and security principles.
- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Ability to work in an Agile environment and contribute to continuous improvement.
