Description of Work
Internal Posting Only temporary or permanent North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) employees in a temporary full-time temporary part-time permanent full-time permanent part-time probationary trainee or time-limited position or a layoff candidate with the NC Department of Transportation eligible for RIF priority reemployment consideration as described by General Statute (GS) 126 (State Personnel Act) may apply.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Additional Expectations:
Ability to follow instructions to apply techniques principles and methods involved in determining and solving basic mechanical problems. Ability to use a variety of tools instruments and machines found in automotive/equipment shop ability to diagnose and provide service/repairs/replacements to basic vehicular equipment. Ability to work in an indoor/outdoor environment. Valid NC Drivers License required. NCDOT requires the employee to obtain NC CDL Class A permit with N endorsement within 60 days of hire date & a valid NC CDL license within 90 days of hire date. Continued employment is contingent upon possession of a valid CDL license. Pre-employment drug testing may be required for this position. As a condition of employment a release form (ALCDRG-01) & a background statement (ALCDRG-06) must be completed & signed allowing the NCDOT to check with previous employers for the last two years about controlled substances and alcohol testing.
Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three (3) years of experience in the area of assignment or a sufficient year- for-year combination of education and experience in the repair work to which assigned; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualifications May require current certification by the EPA as a Type I II III or Universal technician as required by 40 CFR part 82 subpart F.
