1. Have a passion and cultural sensitivity to make a difference in the lives of individuals with communication disorders.

2. Conduct comprehensive evaluations to identify delays or disorders within the scope of practice of an Occupational Therapist or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.

3. Use evidence-based assessment tools standardized tests informal assessments and observations and techniques to identify client needs and to develop accurate diagnoses.

4. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each clients needs and goals.

5. Provide therapy to improve areas of need identified on the assessment tool(s) used to determine eligibility and within the scope of practice for an OTR/L or COTA.

6. Educate clients families and caregivers about communication strategies and progress.

7. Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including teachers therapists medical professionals familiesand caregivers to ensure comprehensive care.

8. Advocate for client needs in educational medical and community settings.

9. Maintain accurate records including assessment results treatment plans progress notes and discharge summaries.

10. Provide guidance and training to clients families and support staff on strategies to enhance communication skills outside of therapy sessions.

11. Engage in prevention and early intervention programs to address other potential disorders or delays.

12. Ensure compliance with state federal and organizational regulations as well as professional ethics. Uphold RightStart Therapy Services Inc polices procedures standards of conduct.

13. Stay updated with current research and trends through continuing education and professional development.

14. Any other duties that fall within an OT or COTAs scope of practice

Requirements:

1. Education: Bachelors in Occupational Therapy for a COTA Masters of Occupational Therapy for OTR/L

2. Certification: Certification with the NBCOT

3. Experience: Prior work with children or individuals with developmental disorders preferred but not required. Experience in clinical educational or medical settings is beneficial.

4. Physical: Ability to lift move pull/push individuals who may weigh up to 35lbs. Physical ability to engage in active play and interventions (e.g. bending kneeling running).

5. CPR & First Aid Certification

6. Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.

7. Analytical skills for assessment and treatment planning.

8. Creativity and adaptability in designing and implementing therapy plans.

9. Patience empathy and a positive attitude.

10. Time management skills for submitting session notes evaluations promptly.

11. Organizational and proficiency skills for detailed data tracking.
