Description of Work

Under the direct supervision of the Nurse Supervisor II - Nurse Manager this position is responsible for the coordination and supervision of the resident care and certified nursing assistants of his/her group home on their assigned shift. The position is responsible for making decisions in collaboration with the Nurse Manager on the assigned shift to determine the proper course of action for the unit to function at its best.

Salary Grade Range: $69027 - $113896 Annually

Recruitment Range: $70000 - $89000 Annually

A sign-on bonus of $10000 may be offered to the successful applicant (s) of this posting contingent on the 2025-2026 budget approval

Knowledge Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Considerable knowledge of professional nursing skills practices and procedures with ability to direct and carry out prescribed medical treatments and therapeutic programs.

  • Working knowledge of supervisory methods practices and procedures with ability to plan organize schedule and supervise the work of healthcare staff etc.; mentor coach and counsel employees on job performance and conduct etc.; motivate employees to develop team camaraderie and commitment towards meeting objectives of management.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan organize and supervise the work of healthcare staff.

  • Ability to identify and address quality monitoring and performance improvement issues with ability to implement and evaluate effectiveness of care patient safety etc.

  • Ability to accurately complete documentation and reports.

  • Physical requirements include ability to pass CPR CPI and lifting up to 50 pounds.

This position is Exempt and is Exempt from certain provisions of the State Human Resources Act (GS 126)

This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events

We will be recruiting for multiple positions with this post. Your application will be considered for all noted open positions.

Shift Premiums for 8-hour shifts: (RN)

Day: Saturday & Sunday 10%

Evening: Monday-Friday 20%; Saturday & Sunday 30%

Night: Friday - Sunday 30%; Monday-Thursday 20%

Shift premiums for 12-hour shifts:

Day: (7am-7:30pm) no premiums

Evenings/Nights: (7pm - 7:30am) Monday - Friday 20%; Saturday & Sunday 30%

**Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus**
To qualify for the sign-on bonus a newly hired permanent full -time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.

An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
(1) the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government including the judicial system or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)
(2) the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency
(3) or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

All sign-on bonuses are contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire.
