Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications from and nominations of tenured faculty members for the position of Chair of the Department of Philosophy. This twelve-month senior-level appointment begins July 1 2026. Salary is competitive. The Department of Philosophy offers a major and minor a Graduate Certificate in Applied Ethics and an M.A. in Ethics and Applied Philosophy with an optional Concentration in Research and Data Ethics. The department has connections to other units across the university both at the graduate and undergraduate levels and is closely affiliated with UNC Charlottes Center for Professional and Applied Ethics (hhtps:// Successful candidates will demonstrate capability in fulfilling the responsibilities of the Chair as outlined in the Department of Philosophy bylaws.
