The NC Department of Administration is the business manager for North Carolina state government. The department oversees Government Operations such as building construction purchasing and contracting for goods and services maintaining facilities managing state vehicles acquiring and disposing of real property and operating auxiliary services such as courier mail delivery and the sale of state and federal surplus property. Additionally the department manages many of the states advocacy programs that provide assistance and services to diverse segments of the states population that have been traditionally underserved.

Job Duties: Providing valuable research and other support to DNCR Legal as we provide the full range of legal services to DNCR.
Major Task to be Performed:
Researching and analyzing federal and state statutes case law rules regulations and policies as they pertain to DNCR its divisions and associated public bodies and the myriad of complex legal matters or issues that arise; review and edit contracts memoranda of agreements easements leases contracts and other legal documents; help prepare responses to requests for documents and information made pursuant to the Public Records Act.
Final Product or Outcome Anticipated: Memoranda of various length and complexity; completed Public Records Act requests.
Academic Majors Desired: Rising second- or third-year law students.
2026 State of North Carolina Internship Period: Monday May 18 Friday July 24 2026
Legal research and writing; Good communication skills; Collaborative and cooperative spirit; Willing and eager to work as part of a team.
This position will close at 11:59 p.m. the night before the end date.
