This position is located at Craven Correctional Institution Vanceboro NC

Reporting directly to the Correctional Warden IV the Correctional Associate Warden of Operations is responsible for assisting the Warden in the total operation of the facility. Additionally this position has direct management and supervisory responsibility for the operation of several critical functions to include the general day-to-day and the 24-hour operation of the facility. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensuring the safety and security of the housing of male offenders housed at a minimum custody correctional institution and ensuring the safety of the staff and general public.
  • Working closely with supervisors to provide guidance and direction on prison policies and procedures. Directly involved with the hiring disciplining coaching and training of employees.
  • Providing direction and structure for the work of the Correctional Captains Correctional Lieutenants Correctional Sergeants Correctional Officers and support staff.
  • During any extended period of absence of the Warden

Management Preferences

  • Documented supervisory skills in a prison facility
  • Documented knowledge of adult facility operations
  • Documented knowledge of adult Prisons policy and procedures

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelors degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of supervisory administrative or consultative experience in CORRECTIONS or related work; -OR-

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience at or above the Correctional Lieutenant level;

-OR-

An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications

Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
