The School of Public Healthhas an exciting opening for anAssistantDean for Advancement.This is a full-timepermanent position.

TheAssistant Deanleadsthe School of Public Healths advancement efforts in support of theSchoolsmission and the Deans strategic priorities.

The Assistant Deanis responsible forthe School of Public Healthsfundraising stakeholder engagement and marketing and communications initiatives.This role overseesa dynamicteamtaskedthe strategies and activities related toincreasingprivate support strengtheningtheSchoolsvisibility and reputation expandingcorporate and foundation partnerships and enhancingindividual giving and alumni engagement.The position reports jointly to the Dean of the School of Public Health and the Assistant Vice President for Health Scienceswhile also collaborating closely withacademic departments and interdisciplinary programs.

What You Will Do:

Strategic Leadership and Team Management

  • Provide strategic leadership for the School of Public Healths advancement program partnering with the Dean anddevelopmentcolleaguestoadvancefundraising donor stewardship alumniengagementand external relations.

  • Managethe daily operations ofateam of advancement professionals responsible forbuilding strong mutually beneficial relationships between theSchooland external stakeholders.

  • Provide strategic direction on a marketing and communications plan that promotestheSchoolsadvancementobjectives.

  • Prepare budgetsand forecastsforthe Advancementteam. Prepare andpresent quarterly and annual financial reports outlining trends fundraising progress and gifts by type or source of funds.

  • Providecounsel andstaffing to the Schools Advancement Board and otherrelated committees. Build strong and mutually beneficial relationships betweenthe Schools Dean facultystaffand external audiences.

  • Coach academic and administrative leaders across theSchoolto bethoughtpartners and advocates of advancement efforts.

Frontline Fundraising

  • Build and sustain deep relationships with donors prospective donors volunteers and business and community leaders. Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects andleadtherelatedcultivationsolicitationand stewardship efforts including preparation of proposals agreementsand supporting materials in alignment withUniversityprospect management practices.

  • Develop and execute strategies to expand and diversify theSchoolsdonor base with a focus on securing major gifts and growing term funds and endowments.

  • Partner with Development colleagues across the University of Washington to meet fundraising metrics leveragecampaignsand shared services and maximize private support.

Campaign Planning

  • In collaboration with the Assistant Vice President for Health Sciences the Deanandother University Advancement colleagues lead campaignplanningand readiness efforts includingafeasibility assessment infrastructure development volunteer identification and recruitment prospect prioritization internal communications and case definition and positioning in support of School and University priorities.

  • Ensure the effective implementation of campaign strategies and timelines including coordinating stakeholders and aligning resources.

  • Steward and build upon the success of past campaigns to strengthen donor relationships and position theSchoolfor future multi-million-dollar fundraising initiatives.

MinimumRequirements:

Bachelors degreeAND at least seven years of professional advancement experience in institutional developmentoradvancement with an emphasis on cultivating andsolicitingmajor gifts.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license/certification/registration.

What You Bring:

  • Experience raising funds and partnering with a broad range of stakeholders including individuals foundations government agencies and NGOs and the private sector.

  • Proven commitment to higher education and extensive knowledge of fundraising principlespracticesand industry trends.

  • Ability to define and clearly communicate the Universitys priorities and vision.

  • Ability to engage and build productive relationships with a broad range of constituents including faculty staff and volunteers.

  • Familiarity with marketing and communications strategies and experience managing or partnering with related functions.

  • Demonstrated success as an inclusive and effective leader able to articulate long-term vision align strategy withvaluesand inspire organizational energy.

  • Experienceprovidingdirect supervision including recruiting managing performance setting priorities overseeingworkflowand addressing employee concerns.

What You Can Expect:

  • Hybrid schedule ofatleast three days in theoffice.

  • Cubicle/Open workspace environment which may result inadditionalor higher levels of noise and visual distractions.

  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours as necessary on short or limited notice.

  • Ability to travel when necessary. Frequent local travel is expected.

Pay Range Minimum:

$180000.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$201000.00 annual
