Qualifications:
15 College hours high school diploma or GED with a passing score of 464 on the Parapro test.
Paraprofessional Educational Aide II certificate required.
Ability to work with children with disabilities and behavioral escalations
Ability to follow verbal and written instruction
Ability to effectively communicate knowledge of general office equipment
Accuracy in record keeping and form completion
Ability to keep information confidential
Primary Purpose:
Data tracking instructional and student care duties as assigned
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adhere to federal state and local policies and procedures related to special education.
- Participate in planned in-services and professional growth activities.
- Assist in carrying out the instructional program for students.
- Assist in maintaining student records and audit folders.
- Assist in preparation of instructional materials and activities.
- Assist with teacher-planned activities.
- Assist in preparation for ARD meetings.
- Assist in collecting and maintaining the student achievement and behavior data.
- Obtain and maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
- Support the Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) accepted by the ARD committee.
- Provide instruction to students under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
- Provide behavior intervention strategies under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
- SHARS/Medicaid - related duties may be required.
Equipment Used:
Personal computer copier calculator fax machine laminator Smart boards. Wheelchair wheelchair lifts.
Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions; work with students who exhibit behavior problems engage in restraining students as needed; frequent bending stooping standing and lifting hearing and speaking clearly; exposure to noise.
