Job Description
40% - Determines Academic Standing and Honor Roll Eligibility for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
  • Conducts a detailed review of all College undergraduate students academic standing and determines correct status including dismissal probation notice or good standing (20000 students per year).
  • Communicates to all students to notify them of their current academic standing and conditions of standing required to remain a student in the College.
  • Provides regular standing report to assistant dean advisors and other campus partners regarding students standing.
  • Conducts monthly review to identify need for additional standing changes due to grade changes and other actions that impact student standing.
  • Uploads academic standing at the end of every semester and after 20th day to capture readmitted students or students changing schools into the College.
  • Communicates with the Office of the University Registrar to update standing throughout the year and drop schedules for dismissed students.
  • Reviews determines eligibility and communicates decision for readmission/admission after dismissal applications including students dismissed from professional schools or otherwise not in good academic standing. This also includes review of applications to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences for current students changing their area of study from another school to determine eligibility for admission into the College.
  • Acts on student petitions related to exceptions to readmission and reinstatement policy.
  • Trains new staff who work with College students on College academic standing policies and procedures.
  • Conducts College academic standing workshops and informational sessions as needed.
  • Places and removes College student enrollment holds related to academic standing.
Determines eligibility for College Deans Honor Roll -
  • Conducts a detailed review of all College undergraduate students academic records at the end of each fall and spring semester and determines eligibility for inclusion in that terms Deans Honor Roll (20000 students per year).
  • Communicates award to students who have earned Honor Roll each semester.
  • Uploads award at the end of every semester to update students record to reflect earned Honor Roll status.
20% - Training/Events Coordinator
Training -
  • Working closely with CUAS colleagues and assistant dean coordinates the creation and maintenance of all training related materials for CUAS trainings for new CUAS staff College faculty leaders new College administrative staff and academic advisors.
  • Conducts semesterly outreach to determine training needs of campus partner units (College departments JAA).
  • Schedules training sessions and coordinates with CUAS staff to secure presenters and manage content.
  • Conducts post training assessment to identify expansions/improvements for future trainings.
Event Planning and Coordination -
  • Facilitates the development and execution of student engagement events intended to reach the substantial student population in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences as a means for increasing the student experience and fostering a greater sense of belonging. Collaborates with campus and local partners to host events on behalf of the office of College Undergraduate Academic Services. Ensures all event submissions meet deadlines for inclusion in the University calendar. Coordinates event structure to ensure events are demonstrating and supporting University-wide goals. Develops and distributes marketing materials across multiple platforms to reach a large and wide-ranging student population. Gathers and leads a team of staff and volunteers to facilitate student engagement events. Arranges the location food and beverage services and any equipment rentals necessary for events. Communicates the structure of events with academic departments while coordinating their participation.
15% - Data Support
  • Serves as a liaison with the College Data Team regarding reports for the unit.
  • Provides data and creates comparison reports related to CUAS initiatives or other reports as needed for assistant dean.
  • Utilizes data proactively to determine areas of improvement regarding policy and procedures working toward identification of areas that may be negatively impacting students.
10% Marketing and Communications
  • Website
    • Ensure information on the College Undergrad website is timely and up to date including frequent reviews and updates as needed/requested.
    • Ensure all information specific to College Undergraduate Academic Services is accurate and up to date on the main College of Liberal Arts and Sciences website.
  • Bulletin Boards and Electronic Display
    • Create content for and updates physical Bulletin boards and departmental TV PowerPoint with current information. Uses hallway TV and in office TV to display important/outreach information.
    • Produces and designs quarterly newsletters on behalf of CUAS ensuring up to date and relevant information is communicated to campus partners.
    • Develops and maintains office branded materials.
5% - Enrollment Holds Management
  • Following current policy and academic standing practices places enrollment blocking holds on students records who do not meet set criteria prior to main enrollment.
  • Conducts assessment of student policy compliance and removes holds as criteria are met.
5% - Orientation Headquarters Academic Support
  • Serves as troubleshooting expert in New Student Orientation Headquarters to assist advisors across campus in resolving advising/enrollment issues during all advising sessions.
5% - Other duties as assigned

Position Overview
The Academic Standing and Training/Events Coordinator serves in a key assessment role related to student standing in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and provides support for student success through analysis of policy and academic requirement information and student support collaborations with campus partners. This position conducts assessment of all undergraduate students in the College to determine academic standing; and also determines eligibility for the College Deans Honor Roll. They are responsible for developing reports and providing data related to the above responsibilities to aid in the success of students and in determining areas for targeted improvements. This position is also responsible for coordination of all campus partner training services for CUAS working closely with internal colleagues as well as training participants; planning and executing outreach events serving as support for orientation headquarters and various large-scale projects; and maintaining website and curated communication to students faculty and staff.
