DescriptionSI Peer Mentors (PMs) will:
A. Work as a team with the SI Coordinator to maintain a safe and supportive community within the residence hall for the duration of the program (living in the residence hall with the students is mandatory).
- Prepare residence hall for student arrival and complete check-in assignments as required; rotate night duty as on call staff for emergencies.
- Utilize time in the residence hall to mentor students and support their transition to college life. PMs are responsible for establishing trust and positive relationships with all SI students.
- Educate students and enforce all residence hall policies and procedures including safety protocols Ithaca community standards and policies related to drug and alcohol use.
B. Work closely with assigned mentees supporting their individual academic social professional and personal development and guiding them as a team to develop a Colloquium presentation.
- Serve as a positive role model using appropriate language exemplifying a positive attitude and modeling behavior expected from students.
- Hold weekly one-on-ones with each student and submit contact notes as directed.
- Provide leadership and structure to support student development of group presentation skills.
- Exercise authenticity and accountability to encourage student behaviors that will result in a positive academic experience at IC such as being on time for class; utilizing study hours; class participation etc.
- Communicate regularly and ensure students have relevant information about SI events and activities.
C. Work with SI supervising staff on a regular basis.
- Maintain timely and proactive communication with SI Coordinator Assistant Director and other staff as directed. PMs will be expected to utilize the Teams app on their phones.
- Meet with PM team SI Coordinator and Assistant Director weekly.
- Assist in the preparation and cleanup of SI events.
- Attend all weekend and most campus partner activities; provide leadership to ensure student participation engagement and safety. Model engagement and positive regard for all SI activities.
- Plan at least one social event for all students.
D. Perform other duties as assigned.

Peer mentors will be paid a total amount of $3960 to cover work beginning Monday June 22 2026 through Sunday August 2 2026; this includes on-campus housing and meals. Pay will follow the Ithaca College biweekly pay schedule.
