What Youll Do:

As a Continuous Improvement Intern you will play a key role in advancing efficiency productivity and quality across Marmon IEI. Youll gain hands-on experience working directly with manufacturing processes applying continuous improvement methodologies in a real-world setting and making meaningful contributions to ongoing projects.

In this role you will collect and analyze data on processes performance metrics and operational efficiency to uncover trends and identify opportunities for improvement. You will create and update process documentation including process maps flowcharts and standard operating procedures while supporting initiatives such as Lean Six Sigma Kaizen and 5S to streamline operations and reduce waste.

You will participate in problem-solving sessions and root cause analyses developing practical solutions to operational addition you will research industry best practices and emerging methodologies provide recommendations for process enhancements and assist in creating training materials to communicate changes and improvements across teams.

Throughout the internship you will gain valuable experience in lean manufacturing process optimization data analysis and teamwork all while contributing directly to projects that improve efficiency quality and productivity in the manufacturing environment.

What Youll Need:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering Operations Management Business Administration Supply Chain or a related field

  • Coursework in Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma Quality Management or Process Improvement is a plus

  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies like Lean Six Sigma Kaizen or 5S

  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel Minitab or other statistical software is advantageous

  • Previous internships co-op experiences or project work related to process improvement quality management or operational efficiency is a plus

  • Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills

  • Entering Junior year or higher

Compensation:

  • $21$23 per hour commensurate with relevant experience and educational background

Work Hours/Length of Program:

  • The internship will run for 12 weeks from May to August

  • Temporary Part/Full Time targeting 40 hours per week

  • Exact start and end dates are flexible based on school schedules and the needs of the business

  • This is a paid internship

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

This position is based on the shop floor and involves working in a manufacturing environment/general exposure to a manufacturing environment. The environment may involve exposure to noise temperature fluctuations or other factors. Employees are required to abide by PPE guidelines when onsite.

  • Exposure to temperatures that may be hot depending on machines and weather

  • Regular walking standing and some sitting for extended periods

  • May involve stooping kneeling or crouching

  • May involve lifting or moving items up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to operate and work around machinery safely

  • Successful completion of a drug screening and a physical exam are required for this role

East Granby Connecticut Onsite
