The NC Department of Administration is the business manager for North Carolina state government. The department oversees Government Operations such as building construction purchasing and contracting for goods and services maintaining facilities managing state vehicles acquiring and disposing of real property and operating auxiliary services such as courier mail delivery and the sale of state and federal surplus property. Additionally the department manages many of the states advocacy programs that provide assistance and services to diverse segments of the states population that have been traditionally underserved.

Job Duties: The primary objective is to provide routine daily care for sick injured and orphaned native wildlife in a condition that will
minimize stress and maintain wild behaviors in preparation for their release back into the wild.
Major Task to be Performed:
The interns duties include preparation of diets cleaning cages admitting patients feeding animalshandling wildlife patients for care answering phones and record keeping. Interns will also have theopportunity to assist with veterinary medical tasks such as administering medications physicaltherapy assisting with radiographs and surgeries as well as perform treatments as ordered byVeterinary staff. Additionally the intern will assist in the care of the centers resident foster/ educationanimal collection. Other projects may include caging repair and maintenance grounds-keeping andenrichment.
Final Product or Outcome Anticipated: Participation in special projects to be determined.
Academic Majors Desired: Pre-Vet Veterinary Technician Zoo Keeper Animal Sciences Biology or other related field.
2026 State of North Carolina Internship Period: Monday May 18 Friday July 24 2026
No knowledge/skills required; animal care/veterinary experience preferred
