The NC Department of Administration is the business manager for North Carolina state government. The department oversees Government Operations such as building construction purchasing and contracting for goods and services maintaining facilities managing state vehicles acquiring and disposing of real property and operating auxiliary services such as courier mail delivery and the sale of state and federal surplus property. Additionally the department manages many of the states advocacy programs that provide assistance and services to diverse segments of the states population that have been traditionally underserved.

Job Duties: To support the conservation of endangered sea turtles through hands-on field research and public education at Hammocks Beach State Park on Bear Island. Interns will monitor nesting activity collect scientific data and engage visitors to promote awareness of marine conservation and coastal ecosystems.
Major Task to be Performed:
Interns will conduct nightly patrols to observe and document nesting female sea turtles tag and measure individuals collect eggshell samples for DNA analysis deploy temperature loggers and record nest activity. Nests will be protected or relocated as needed. Interns will also conduct light maintenance including cleaning equipment building nest cages and updating educational materials. Outreach includes impromptu talks scheduled programs and social-media updates that promote sea-turtle conservation.
Final Product or Outcome Anticipated: Interns will contribute valuable data to ongoing sea-turtle conservation efforts and develop an educational presentation or project highlighting sea-turtle research or coastal stewardship.

Strong communication and teamwork skills attention to detail and enthusiasm for wildlife conservation. Ability to work independently outdoors comfort with public speaking and coursework in biology ecology or related fields are desirable.
This position will close at 11:59 p.m. the night before the end date.
