Job Description:

This is structure and craft work in welding and the fabrication modification maintenance and repair of a variety of metal objects fixtures heavy vehicles/equipment and industrial scale equipment associated with construction related jobs. Work involves construction design assembly repair and maintenance of a variety of metal materials and equipment. Duties include fabricating structures from blueprints and sketches operating heavy vehicles and construction equipment and providing oversight to others engaged in performing welding duties. Work is performed under general supervision. Preference will be given to individuals who possess welding/fabrication experience on heavy construction vehicles.

To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence ofthe following experience:

Four (4) years of experience education and/or training in the maintenance repair and/or rebuild of automotive and/or construction equipment including two (2) years of experience working with heavy vehicle and construction equipment.

Licensing/Registration/Certification Requirements:

  • Class B CDL with air endorsements and Class A & D inspection licenses. Some positions may also include Class E inspection license requirement. (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class (probation))
  • Pass State paid Medical examination that includes a drug test and the Departments Respirator fit test and the driver examination and road test for the assigned equipment..
  • Must have a valid Class C State of Maine license by first day of employment.
