Job Summary:
As patients work through physical rehabilitation the Occupational Therapist will guide them through a treatment program to restore reinforce and enhance performance.
Through collaboration with the patient you will establish goals and track progress through their rehabilitation.
This role allows you to be a mentor to OTAs students and volunteers. You will also participate in program development performance improvement projects and other committees.
All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise
- Applies knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served (infant pediatric adolescent adult and/or geriatric).
- Demonstrates competence awareness and sensitivity of the physical emotional and socio-psychological needs of infants through geriatrics.
- Conducts occupational therapy evaluations. Demonstrates skill in appropriate selection administration and interpretation of standardized and non-standardized assessments using age specific criteria for each age population served.
- Develops and implements an occupational therapy treatment plan according to a valid prescription and in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Establishes a plan of care for each patient including mutually established goals taking into account patient age and educational level. Progress toward goals will be documented and reported to the physician per departmental and applicable regulatory policy.
- Prepares and maintains accurate patient care records according to departmental protocols and demonstrate basic competency for completing accurate billing and electronic documentation.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill to utilize departmental equipment safely and appropriately for patient care activities.
- Maintains clean and safe work environment to comply with hospital and department safety standards.
- Demonstrates professionalism in clinical practice. Understands and abides by ProMedicas mission and values in all interactions with patients visitors and co-workers.
- Demonstrates knowledge and ability to advocate communicate and educate patients of all age groups served including those with physical emotional language and cognitive impairments taking into account age and educational level as measured by competencies.
- Provides oversight and mentoring for OTAs students and volunteers.
- Participates in program development performance improvement projects and other committees as assigned.
- Manages and maintains productivity standards as established by the department.
- Provides occupational therapy in a variety of clinical settings and may be required to travel between ProMedica locations.
- Performs other duties as directed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor Master or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy
License: Current OT License in State of practice
Certification: BLS
