The Role
ABC NewsRadio is seeking an experienced and skilled journalist to join its dynamic live rolling news team.
The Job
You will:
- Be responsible for the daily production of continuous live news working under pressure to tight deadlines while making sound editorial judgements
- Generate pitch and commission ideas new angles and talent that reflects a diverse Australia.
- Be audience focussed and will ensure program content resonates with and engages listeners
- Research produce and conduct high quality pre-recorded and live interviews.
- Present rolling news programs where appropriate
- Source edit and output content to a very high technical standard.
About You
You are a talented broadcast journalist with excellent organisational and communication skills who has a passion for telling stories and keeping audiences informed. You are a team player with an instinctive understanding of the news stories that will engage and reflect a diverse Australia.
You will have:
- Strong editorial skills and experience leading teams
- In-depth knowledge of local national and international news
- A strong broadcast voice and experience presenting programs desirable but not required
- Ability to quickly write clean accurate copy and interview briefs in a breaking news situation
- Ability to find strong talent and an understanding of the importance of including diverse voices and perspectives
- Advanced audio editing skills
- Availability to work all shifts including weekends
- Ability to direct small teams supervise production of content and editorial guidance as required
