About the School and ARP

A progressive and inclusive secondary school in West London is seeking a skilled and compassionate ARP Teaching Assistant to join their Additionally Resourced Provision. The ARP supports students with Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) primarily those with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) communication needs sensory processing difficulties and associated social and emotional challenges.

The school has a strong commitment to inclusive practice and aims to ensure that students within the ARP are supported to access the curriculum develop independence and build confidence as they progress through secondary education. The ARP is well-resourced and staffed by experienced SEN professionals.

About the Role

As an ARP Teaching Assistant you will support students aged 1116 within both the ARP setting and mainstream classrooms where appropriate. You will provide tailored support to help students manage learning demands emotional regulation social interaction and transitions throughout the school day.

This role requires patience flexibility and a strong understanding of SEN and adolescent development. You will work closely with subject teachers SEN staff and external professionals to ensure students receive consistent and effective support.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support for students with EHCPs

  • Supporting students with ASD sensory needs and communication difficulties

  • Assisting with differentiated learning activities across a range of subjects

  • Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour using positive strategies

  • Implementing recommendations from therapists and SEN professionals

  • Supporting students during transitions between lessons and environments

  • Assisting with social skills development and peer interaction

  • Monitoring progress and contributing to EHCP reviews

  • Maintaining accurate records and observations

  • Supporting personal care or medical needs where required

  • Promoting independence resilience and self-confidence

  • Supporting safeguarding health and safety procedures

The Ideal Candidate

The school is seeking an ARP Teaching Assistant who:

  • Has experience working with SEN students particularly ASD

  • Understands EHCPs and personalised learning approaches

  • Is patient empathetic and emotionally resilient

  • Has strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Is committed to inclusive education and safeguarding

Experience in secondary SEN settings ARPs or specialist provisions is highly desirable. Candidates with relevant transferable experience from care or support roles are also encouraged to apply.
