An exciting opportunity has arisen at Oaklands for a Lecturer in Electrical Installation to provide high-quality teaching learning and assessment across Levels 13 in both theory and practical environments.

We are therefore seeking a Lecturer in Electrical Installation to play a vital role in our journey.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and industry-experienced Lecturer in Electrical Installation to join our team and play a crucial role in delivering engaging and outstanding teaching to support learners progressing into skilled employment apprenticeships or further this position you will plan and deliver theory and practical sessions prepare learners for assessments and apprentices for End-Point Assessment and maintain high standards of workshop safety and compliance. You will also be responsible for tracking learner progress using digital platforms and contributing to curriculum development quality processes and continuous improvement.

Your Day-to-Day Impact

Exciting Opportunity: Become a Key Lecturer and Inspire Learners!

We are looking for a passionate and committed Lecturer to join our team and play a crucial role in delivering outstanding teaching and mentoring to our Engineering this position you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging theory and practical sessions for Levels 1 2 & 3.

  • Cover core topics: Health & Safety electrical science and principles inspection & testing installation practices fault finding regulations and competence in using industry-standard tools and test equipment.

  • Prepare learners for summative assessment and synoptic elements; set and mark formative assessments with timely feedback.

  • Use e-learning and digital platforms (e.g. MS Teams/SharePoint e-portfolio such as Smart Assessor/OneFile) to track progress share resources and maintain high learner engagement.

  • Differentiate learning to meet needs of SEND/EHCP learners high-needs students and stretch/challenge for higher-attaining learners.

  • Maintain accurate records: registers ILPs progress reviews target-setting predicted grades and intervention logs.

Quality Compliance & Awarding Body Standards

  • Deliver to specification scheme of work and assessment plan in line with City & Guilds requirements and internal policies.

  • Contribute to IQA processes (standardisation sampling assessment evidence quality); implement feedback and action plans.

  • Support external quality assurance (EQA) visits ensuring documentation and learner work meet standards.

  • Contribute to SAR/QIP curriculum planning and continuous improvement aligned to the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework.

  • Meet departmental KPIs: attendance retention achievement high grades timely completion (apprenticeships) learner destinations.

Workshop & Health & Safety

  • Maintain a safe industry-standard workshop: complete risk assessments undertake inductions and enforce PPE/LOTO procedures.

  • Ensure tools rigs and test equipment (e.g. multifunction testers calibrations) are safe and serviceable; manage consumables and stock.

  • Embed Health & Safety and safe systems of work in all practical sessions.

Pastoral Safeguarding & Wider Responsibilities

  • Promote and uphold Safeguarding Prevent British Values Equality Diversity & Inclusion and ESG/sustainability themes.

  • Deliver Maths & English (functional reinforcement) in vocational contexts and support attendance to discrete sessions where applicable.

  • Provide effective tutorials progress reviews (including tripartite reviews for apprentices with employers) and careers guidance signposting.

  • Engage employers to plan workplace learning collect workplace evidence and support on-the-job competency development.

Professionalism & Team Contribution

  • Participate in team meetings CPD standardisation and curriculum development (including 18th/19th Edition inspection & testing updates).

  • Keep technical knowledge current with industry practice (e.g. BS 7671 updates emerging technologies: EV charging renewables).

  • Contribute to marketing open events taster days and employer engagement activities.
